About Carol

My Approach To Therapy

I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership in which we journey together to bring about the change you want in your life. The trusted therapeutic relationship we create provides a “safe, protected space”, the container in which vulnerable issues and intense emotions can be accessed and processed.

My approach to therapy is personalized to each client, integrating multiple complimentary methodologies and techniques. The central theme is my belief in each client and their ability to change, building upon their strengths, and helping them identify and achieve the goals that are important to them.

I strive to create a healing environment, a place where you can learn about negative behavioral patterns that have kept you stuck, and a place to practice new ways of thinking and behaving.

Education & Experience

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. To be licensed by the state of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I completed 3000 hours of supervised clinical experience and passed two licensing exams in addition to completing my masters degree. I am also certified as a Process Therapist, and as an Equine Assisted Psychotherapist. I specialize in marriage and couples counseling, and the treatment of eating disorders, alcohol/chemical dependency, premarital counseling, and other general issues.

In addition to my private practice, I have facilitated food, weight and body issue groups for women through InnerSolutions™ Counseling services in Soquel, CA. For many years I worked in a residential drug & alcohol treatment center providing individual, family and group therapy, and relapse prevention.

A Unique Lens into
the High-Tech World

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent over a decade working in public relations for high-tech companies, including Apple and many of its third-party developers. I coordinated press tours, managed executive communications, and collaborated closely with media, engineers, and C-level executives. These experiences required adaptability, emotional intelligence, and clear, strategic communication—all skills that continue to inform my therapeutic work today.

Because I’ve had a foot in both the tech and mental health worlds, I bring a nuanced understanding of the culture and demands of Silicon Valley. I work with clients who are navigating high-pressure careers, leadership roles, burnout, imposter syndrome, and the complexities of work-life balance in an always-on industry.

In our work together, I draw from evidence-based modalities such as:

  • ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to support values-based decision-making and build psychological flexibility

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) to explore and integrate different internal parts, especially those that carry shame, drive overachievement, or hold trauma

  • Mindfulness-based strategies to develop present-moment awareness, reduce anxiety, and improve focus

  • Relational and psychodynamic approaches to uncover patterns in relationships—personal, professional, and internal—that may be holding you back

Whether you’re navigating a leadership transition, startup stress, or personal challenges masked by professional success, I provide a space for honest reflection, practical tools, and meaningful change.
